Kathleen M. Toombs

Kathleen M. Toombs founded Toombs & Meier, PLLC in October 2007, practicing primarily in the areas of Elder Law (including Health Care Proxies, Powers of Attorney, Guardianships and Wills), Medicaid Planning and Application, Trust and Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Litigation, and Real Estate. A core value that Ms. Toombs brings to her practice is a commitment to personal service and compassion for the individuals and families she works with.

Ms. Toombs is a member of the New York State and Schenectady County Bar Associations, where she has chaired the Estate Planning and Elder Law Committee since 2003. Ms. Toombs is a member of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committees for both bars. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Ms Toombs speaks frequently at public and professional seminars on Elder Law, Estate and Medicaid Planning.

Ms. Toombs is very active in local civic and community organizations. She is an Assistant Girl Scout Leader, Auxiliary Member for Thomas Corners Volunteer Fire Department, Elder and Property Chair at Trinity Presbyterian Church. She is past Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Historic Cherry Hill and a past Director of the Schenectady YMCA.

Ms. Toombs received her J.D. (cum laude) from Albany Law School of Union University in 1998, with a concentration in the field of Family and Elder Law, and was a member of the Justinian Society. She received her B.A. from University at Albany, State University of New York, and her A.A. from Schenectady County Community College. While completing her education, Ms. Toombs also held several clerkships in the public and private sectors.

Christina Watson Meier

While working full time, Christina attended Schenectady County Community College and the State University of New York at Albany where she graduated summa cum laude in May, 2001.  Christina’s passion for advocating for the rights of families and children led her to pursue a career in the legal field and attend Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
After graduating from Northeastern in 2004, Christina worked for a Schenectady-based law firm.  Drawing from her past experiences working in the title insurance and accounting fields, and with the tutelage of experienced attorneys, Christina honed her skills from the legal perspective in the areas of Real Estate and Elder Law.  She prides herself on being available for her clients and truly listening to them to determine their needs.
 
In 2005, Christina’s desire to have a more comprehensive and personalized relationship with her clients led her to opening her own firm on LaFayette Street in downtown Schenectady.  As a sole practitioner, Christina continued to practice in the areas of Real Estate and Elder Law.
 
In October 2007, Christina founded Toombs & Meier, PLLC with Kathleen M. Toombs.  Christina’s and Kate’s philosophical and professional compatibility enhances the representation of their clients and their families.
 
Christina is a member of the New York State and Schenectady County Bar Associations where she is an active member of the Real Estate and Estate Planning and Elder Law Committees.  Christina is a member of the Schenectady County Community College’s Paralegal Advisory Board.  Christina is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of New York.


Christina and her husband Steven live in Loudonville with their son, Reece.
